NELLI TOBLER

Painter and Sculpter

Nelli is of swiss birth and heritage. Living for the last 30 years in the rockies influenced her deeply in her visions to portray the majestic beauty of mountains, glaciers, rock-formations and wetlands.

Her paintings are ostensibly landscapes inspired by the vistas of her surrounding ,

Suggesting mystical journeys.

She uses a very rich palette beautifully blending hues and values characteristic of the medium.

Nelli has a strong sence for colors in nature sometimes not visible to the eye.

Nelli has worked in clay since the 70is producing- vessels, bowls, and icons in the

Form of wall plates. Most of her work is pit-fired, an old and primal process. Her work was then painted with oils.

At this point in time Nelli is painting on canvas only, do she feels the years of clay work has interwoven itself into her paintings, which manifests itself in the rock-formations and the three-dimensional expressions.

Nelli has extensively explored the right brain, left brain sensibility to balance personality. Most of her paintings are painted integrating both sides.

Nelli’s landscapes are an attempt to capture nature’s spirituality and strong energy.

DAVID LOW

Painter-oils

David Low is of Scottish birth and heritage, he has collected the majority of hes visions growing up and living in the costal regions of british Columbia. He moved to golden in 1997. His more recent landscapes portray the influence of living in the Rockies and the challenges of rock, glacier and river wetland.

Low works in a variety of sizes, but his large oils are striking. Earlier images show influence from Emily Carr and the group of Seven. David uses only three primary colors, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson, Prussian blue and white. The blacks come from mixing these hues. His canvases appear darkish but he expertly weaves colorful gradations and changes temperature to keep the viewers eye moving around the painting.

Inspiration comes from the landscape and floral genres but only as residues of those experiences not as direct observation.

An impressionist David Low’s land and seascapes, floral cascades and designed scenery are a attempt to capture nature’s spirituality and energy.
